#AREA usenet_altcompfreeware alt.comp.freeware a
#AREA usenet_complangc++ comp.lang.c++ a
I recently found I was quickly going through my usenet quota with astraweb.
When I reviewed groups that had a large number of messages I found
#AREA usenet_altcompfreeware alt.comp.freeware a
#AREA usenet_complangc++ comp.lang.c++ a
Both of these were receiving yEnc RAR parts.
I have removed both of these from my incoming feed. c++ makes no
sense; but I guess it is just another form of spam.
Thought I would share in case others may be getting c++ and or
freeware group, and haven't noticed the increase use in bandwidth
to pull down these groups.
I've tried to add some subject filtering; in case it is occurring
in other groups. But just removed these two for the time being.
freeware was a mistake. I had spent a few days trying to determine
which groups were actually active, but wasn't successful 100%. So I
came up with a list based on activity I found on other usenet
statistics.
I would have assumed that freeware would have been discussions,
not binaries as it was not a alt.binaries group; but it seems people
like creating spam and problems however they can and started posting
