I forgot to add I usually will get a frozen Mrs. Field's pie of some sort for dessert for Christmas dinner. If I'm going to destroy my supposed diet, I'm going to go all the way!

Yes, pies at Christmas are a must. My grocery store (HEB) usually has
smaller 8" pumpkin pies and I pick one of those up and a small
container of whipped cream. It only lasts a few days LOL

Yes, pies at Christmas are a must. My grocery store (HEB) usually has smaller 8" pumpkin pies and I pick one of those up and a small
container of whipped cream. It only lasts a few days LOL

I remember HEB ("huge enormous butt" LOL). It was a very nice store to shop in.

I like all sorts of pie so I'll just grab whatever's there at the time if it's frozen but if it's in the deli, I'll ask if they have any pumpkin pie hiding out. Whipped cream is a must.

I will make a no-bake cheesecake if I mess up and am too late to get a pie in stock.

because pumpkins are harvested around that time.

For me, the worst part of the dense version are the red and
green bits in it. Candied cherries? Most of the time they
seemed to introduce a bitterness, as I recall.

I've had other properly made versions laced with liberal amount
of bourbon. That was quite palatable.
